Misunderstandings

INTRO

I’ve been absent from my blog, I apologize. My intent was to keep posting weekly, twice a week actually. Things don’t always go according to plan and you tend to get distracted or involved in something that takes your time from you. However, what I wanted with this blog has not changed and it remains important even for as little people who might view it. I won’t bore you with details but I’ve had a lot on my plate. There were so many times I wanted to sit down and get a post written but I felt drained and wasn’t able to give my full attention. I don’t want to post simply to post. I want them to have some meaning. Moving forward I am not sure how often I will get to post during this season I am going through. But today I have something to say and I have chance to say it. Grab your Bible and check what I am going to share.

What is The Blessed Hope?

What is “the blessed hope”?

What Does It Mean image

Have you ever heard anyone say those words, blessed hope? Perhaps it was something like this, “this is our blessed hope.” Are you a new Christian on your new journey in your new life and just don’t know what that means? Perhaps you heard a pastor, mentor, or other person claim one thing as the blessed hope but someone else claim something different.

A little background as to why I am posting this is that a Pastor I know (and it’s not my intent to call anyone out) claims one thing about his “blessed hope” that is just not what the Bible says, so it got me thinking, maybe I should set it straight in case anyone out there has ever been told something wrong. But this isn’t my words, I am going to show you with scripture.

The Truth About The Christ

Who is the person we call Jesus? Where did he come from? What was his purpose? Where is he now? What is his name and what is the significance? These and other questions will be answered in the best way that I can say it, with the help of scripture and the Holy Spirit. Let’s study the life, death, resurrection and purpose of the 2nd person of the trinity, God’s son. During this study I hope you will learn the truth, put aside your traditions and your presuppositions and just focus on the truth as the scripture tells it. Say a prayer and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in your understanding and your thoughts so that you can know the real truth and worship the true the Son of God.

What is Worship?

You have gotten up early, you got dressed, you drove the distance, even if it was snowing, and you walked into the building. You were either ushered to a seat or found your own. The musicians are on the stage and than the worship leader asks you to stand for worship. This is probably what 80 percent of Christians today think worship is. To worship for most who attend church means singing, whether that is classic hymns or more modern contemporary tunes. But is that really what worship is or can it be something else? What does it mean to worship? Who are we worshipping? Is there a rule or command that tells us how? Does it matter if it’s public or private? Is there a scripture about worship?

What does the Bible really say? (Part 2)

1–2 minutes

This is my continuation from my previous post. Again I want to get this out in the open, I’m not going to pretend I know everything ; I don’t. My goal here is not to make you believe me or convince you of my thoughts, feelings, and opinions. My goal is to help you think and ask the questions, but more importantly, to search for the truth in the scripture, so that you may grow in your knowledge and relationship with Christ. As born-again followers of Christ living in today’s world it’s so very easy to hear things that sound biblical but just are not scriptural at all. I call them the feel good mantras. They make people feel good but it’s not the reality of the teachings in the scriptures or Jesus himself. Remember, context it key.

It’s never okay or correct to pull out a verse and twist it to say something it’s not saying and I pray I don’t do that. That becomes misleading. I’ve been “around the block” and I’ve heard it all. Well, maybe not “all” as these past few years I’ve heard things that shocked me that people claim the scripture says, that when I actually look for it, it’s not in there, but instead it is some man’s interpretation to get some kind of man made idea across. I’ll say it again, the Bible is not that complicated when you read it without presuppositions or man’s idea of what they want it to say. Just allow the Holy Spirit to show you what it says. Don’t read the scriptures with a YOU centered bent or a modern day Christianity idea. That is to say, there was no such thing as “Calvinism”, “dispensationalism”, “Baptist”, “Catholic”, etc, when the scriptures were written and it’s this author’s opinion you should not read the Bible this way.
